The production workshops and atelier of Maison THEODOR are located in Bonnières sur Seine, which is about 60 kilometres west of Paris. Both are housed in the exceptionally well-preserved industrial buildings where in 1934 the SINGER factories (producer of sewing machines) were located. Between the river Seine and the railway connecting Paris to Le Havre, THEODOR now occupies over 5,000 m2 of this industrial site.
Every year Maison THEODOR receives about 100 tons of teas and herbs (in all its forms) from all around the world (e.g. China, Japan, Sri Lanka, South Korea, Africa and even from Brazil and Argentina). The tea is packed in the workshops or used as a base for the signature creations. The largest part of the production is packed into bulk packages , intended for retailers and resellers (like Four Leaves). Furthermore, THEODOR also produces annually between 200,000 and 250,000 tins, prettily decorated with a satin ribbon that is still applied by hand, as well as five million teabags (‘Sachets Precieux’).
Despite these large numbers Maison THEODOR wants to perpetuate an almost fully handcrafted production process that is sparsely industrialized. The production house consists of several small workshops, devoid of any assembly line, deliberately using the expertise of precious and specialized handwork, like in the old days.
